The Challenge
Despite the profound impact of climate change in Indonesia, public and governmental attention needs to be increased. Armed with comprehensive knowledge and data, civil society groups face the challenge of balancing their narrative against the perspectives of the government. DDA enlisted 20 spokespersons to address this to increase awareness on crucial issues such as forest protection, the green economy, renewable energy, food security, and indigenous issues.
Our Approach
Under the guidance of ID COMM, a robust communication strategy was devised to elevate civil society’s voices. This involved identifying and mapping experts and creating tailored communication programs in the form of webinars, podcasts, social media campaigns, radio shows, and media briefings. The spokespersons were also equipped with the necessary skills through training in public speaking, media interaction, and digital strategies.
The Result
In total, the campaign achieved 560 media coverages and 8 million media exposures via a variety of media channels. 4,066 listeners listened to podcasts, 265,324 views of Instagram live sessions were obtained, and 282 people participated in speaking opportunities. During the initiative, spokespersons gained confidence and improved their communication skills, enabling them to effectively link their knowledge to current affairs and enhance public engagement on climate change issues due to the collaborative narratives they developed.
