The Challenge
Between May and September 2022, the Australia-Indonesia Health Security Partnership inquired ID COMM to conduct media and community engagement for risk communication around the COVID-19 vaccine roll-out, 3T, and preventive actions. The goal is to widen vaccine access for the elderly and people with disabilities across regencies in South Sulawesi, Central Java, Bali, and Yogyakarta provinces during the five months.
Our Approach
In conducting the campaign, ID COMM executed intervention through community engagement and collaborated with regional governments and people with disability organizations to raise awareness and increase access to the provided vaccination sites. Specifically, ID COMM became the connector between regional government agencies from various sectors. Campaign personnel also assisted people with disabilities and older people that did not possess National Identification Cards (KTP) in receiving their vaccination.
The Result
The campaign significantly increased the number of vaccination participants, including people with disabilities and the elderly. Furthermore, the campaign also released an inclusive COVID-19 Vaccination Guidebook, which was applied and implemented in 5 regencies in South Sulawesi and disseminated to all provincial regencies. Overall, the number of people potentially reached by the distribution of campaign event/digital communication materials in September 2022, the last month of the campaign period, reached 104,107 people.
