Most of mothers have dual roles, in their professional life and in personal life. A sufficient time to spend with their children might be the key issue in this modern times. It is very important for parents today to have a good time management and an appropriate parenting method in the midst of the increasingly life dynamics. Furthermore, parents are now facing unique challenges, one of which is the opportunity to perform stimulation through skin-to-skin contact which is important for child’s development. As we all may be already aware of, bonding between mother and child has been created since the child is in the womb – offers the baby a safe and comfortable environment, and allows the grow of its positive identity and self confidence.
New challenges faced by mothers today became a topic raised in Transpulmin’s campaign entitled “Kembali ke Sentuhan Hangat” (“Back to the Warm Touch”, and was being discussed in a media gathering at Paloma Resto, Jakarta (31/1).
The campaign featured pediatrician Dr. Dimple Nagrani, Sp. A.; educational psychologist from Rumah Dandelion, Orissa Rinjani; Aubry Beer, business woman and digital influencer who is also a mother of two children.
The busy daily routines, Audrey admitted, have been preventing moms from giving their full attention and forming a good bond with their children. “The time allocation for children never seems to be enough. I found it difficult to share a balance attention with my two children whose age gap is very little. I feel the need to make more efforts today, to maintain my relationship with my children,” said Aubry.
From a psychological point of view, Orissa Rinjani explained that warm touch is a critical element in child’s upbrining. It helps shaping children’s confidence and reducing their anxiety. These emotional modalities will be carried over into their adulthood.
Not only mothers, fathers also have an equally important role in the success of parenting. Fact revealed from the Edison Research suggested that the involvement or role of the fathers is now gradually increasing, however most of the burdens related to parenting and household affairs remain mostly fall on mothers. This fact builds a collective awareness that parenting must be thoughtfully planned between husband and wife, and challenges must be faced together.
Dr. Dimple Nagrani, Sp. A. also shared a medical perspective of positive impacts on child development, created from a warm touch. “Touch is a baby’s first language. Skin-to-skin contact is very beneficial for stabilizing emotions, stimulate physical growth and brain development. Many studies have shown that skin-to-skin contact can increase the love hormone (oxytocin hormone) not only in children, but also in mothers. It reduces the risk of post-partum depression and can speed up the recovery process.”
According to her personal experience, Aubry claimed that skin-to-skin contact with her two children is very effective when she uses Transpulmin right before their bedtime. Warm touches are simple ritual that apparently create a big impact to her relationship with the children.
Idham Hamzah, President Director of Menarini Indonesia, underlined the company’s continous support to Indonesian parents by providing quality products such as Transpulmin. “The “Back to the Warm Touch” campaign brings an important message that embraces the meaning of modern parenting. Warm touch becomes a bridge to return to the true essence of parenting. Transpulmin will always support parents to overcome various challenges they face from time to time, reminding them that family’s warmth and togetherness are the love recipe.”
